The 18th SME WG Annual Meeting that was held from 24 to 26 January 2012, in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, brought together 34 in-person SME WG participants from 10 countries. 

Meeting Objectives

• 1. Receive updates from malaria endemic countries and discuss country perspectives on M&E system strengthening
• 2. Receive updates from partner organizations
• 3. Discuss challenges and innovations in measuring case management
• 4. Review ongoing MERG taskforce work
• 5. Discuss recent disease burden estimates
• 6. Discuss measurement of malaria in low-endemicity or elimination settings
• 7. Discuss MERG business issues
