World Malaria Day in Afghanistan

Each year Afghanistan's Malaria and other Vector-borne disease program celebrates World Malaria day to highlight the need for continued investment and sustained political commitment to malaria prevention and control. This year, the World Malaria Day celebration will be held in the Capital of Afghanistan, Kabul, and in two zones (Nangarhar and Herat). In addition, the 34 provinces of Afghanistan will also celebrate on this day.

World Malaria Day Champions' Breakfast

The UN Foundation/United to Beat Malaria, Malaria No More, the American Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene, and the Malaria Roundtable will host a World Malaria Day Champions’ Breakfast on Capitol Hill from 9-11am on Wednesday, April 26. The event, in conjunction with the Senate Caucus on Malaria and Neglected Tropical Diseases, will focus on the role of U.S. innovation in the fight to end malaria, in particular highlighting the role of the National Institutes of Health for its work in infectious disease and monoclonal antibodies as a tool for malaria elimination.

Fonjo Foundation

The Fonjo Foundation will be delivering a range of activities in Uganda this World Malaria Day including:
- Distributing literature on malaria prevention in the community
- Community awareness activities on malaria and sanitation, including good medical practices
-  Launching initiatives to reach  local leaders on the issue of malaria 
-  Distributing audio and video recordings to support the correct use of malaria treatments and mosquito nets, as well as how communities can take care of their homes to prevent the emergence of malaria breeding grounds.
