Lessons from Malaria in the Age of Pandemics: Building Sub National & District Level Capacity

Diseases like malaria but also COVID-19 have shown that we are only as strong as our weakest link. The fight against infectious diseases requires robust and responsive health systems that ensure access to health services and commodities to the most vulnerable, down to the last mile.

Malaria is a disease of the rural poor and the remaining burden of malaria in Asia Pacific, concentrated predominantly in India, Indonesia, Pakistan, and Papua New Guinea is among the most hard-to-reach-communities with poorer access to health services as well as among indigenous people.

Zero Malaria Business Leadership Initiative (ZMBLI) launch in Burkina Faso

NMCP Burkina in collaboration with Speak Up Africa will launch the Zero Malaria Business Leadership Initiative (ZMBLI) campaign on 22nd April 2021.

Burkina will also celebrate the WMD on 25th April 2021 under the auspices of His Excellency the President of the Republic and the patronage of the President of the Assembly.

Civil Society Organizations will also be involved in the one-week celebration (19-25 April). 

Malaria No More Japan (MNMJ): Climate change and malaria political dialogue

Malaria No More Japan (MNMJ) will organize Japan/US/UK political dialogue to eliminate malaria and mosquito-borne diseases on World Malaria Day 2021.The dialogue will discuss the climate crisis and infectious diseases, increasingly complex situation on infectious diseases, expanded situation along with human movement and its countermeasures, global solidarity.

Call for Proposals (CFP), Strengthening of the activities of National Malaria Elimination Programmes in the cross-border areas of South East Asia (SEA) countries to accelerate malaria elimination

The purpose of this grant is to provide support the cross-border coordination of the effort of malaria elimination in SEA countries and mitigate the impact of COVID-19.

Objectives of the Grant:

The successful applicant will be involved in supporting the coordination efforts by countries in SEA and work closely with the RBM Partnership specifically CRSPC.

The successful grantee will address the following objectives:

Isdell: Flowers Cross Border Malaria Initiative virtual Round Table

Once a year, the Isdell:Flowers Cross Border Malaria Initiative convenes malaria partners and advocates, Ministry of Health representatives, scientists, and implementers to share updates on malaria activities within Angola, Namibia, Zambia, and Zimbabwe, as well as new science and best practices on malaria and community engagement.

This year, due to COVID-19, the Isdell: Flowers Round Table will be held remotely on April 8th and 9th.
