"Promoting sustainable funding for Seasonal Malaria Chemoprevention"

In 2019 an estimated 405,000 lives were lost to malaria globally. About 67% of these were children under the age of five.
In 2012, Seasonal Malaria Chemoprevention (SMC), a cost-effective intervention recommended by the World Health Organization, was introduced to protect children aged 3 – 59 months living in the Sahel regions of West and Central Africa, where malaria transmission is highest during and shortly after the rainy season.

Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria outreach activities

On April 25, Pharmacists all over Nigeria will be commemorating World Malaria Day by engaging their community through health outreaches, distribution of printed information about malaria prevention, malaria testing and other forms of health education programs. Pharmacists will also be gathering data from the community to assess people's awareness of malaria disease. Organized by the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria.
