Geneva, 3 March 2023 - At its 25th meeting on 25 October 2022, the Board of the RBM Partnership to End Malaria adopted a new hybrid Board structure to better capture the perspectives of malaria-affected countries and other constituencies into the Partnership’s governance.

The Board is the governing body of the RBM Partnership to End Malaria. This new composition will include 23 representatives from malaria-affected countries, key donors, civil society, the private sector and the science and innovation community, as well as unaffiliated members who will join in their private capacity.

To bring complementary skills and experience to further the Partnership’s mission to end malaria, the new hybrid Board structure is looking to fill two “unaffiliated” Board seats. These unaffiliated Board members will sit in their private capacity and contribute to ensuring all deliberations are balanced, holistic, and unbiased.

To fill these two seats, the Partnership is seeking nominations from exceptional candidates, and is especially interested in individuals with depth of experience in finance, risk and/or audit. More details on the selection of the two unaffiliated Board members can be found here.

The Partnership is also seeking a new Board Chair to help shape the Partnership’s future. This new Chair will occupy an essential role in managing the Board’s affairs—ensuring it is organized properly, functions effectively, and meets its responsibilities—as well as maintaining ongoing and effective communication with and among Board members, the CEO and Partners.

The RBM Partnership is seeking nominations from stellar candidates to chair the Board in its new hybrid composition. Further details on the nomination and selection process for the Chair of the prospective Board are provided in this document.

To maintain a diverse, representational Board, the RBM Bye-Laws state that at least half of the Board Members are drawn from malaria-affected countries and regions.  Therefore, the Partnership encourages nominations for the unaffiliated Board seats and Board Chair from malaria-affected countries.

Board members and the Chair are elected for a two-year term, which is renewable once for up to two years. The new Board is expected to have its first meeting on 15 and 16 May in Geneva, Switzerland.

The deadline for receipt of nominations has been extended to 7 April 2023 with the nomination and selection process due to conclude by 21 April 2023.
