Thirty-third SME WG Annual Meeting

The 33rd SME WG Annual Meeting that was held from 17 to 20 May 2022, in Kigali, Rwuanda, brought together 59 in-person SME WG participants from 20 countries. Moreover, online participants and speakers from various countries had the opportunity to attend through Zoom.

The four-day meeting, which started with a study tour on the first day, had an overarching benefit of enlightening participants of how malaria control efforts are being coordinated in Kigali, Rwanda

The main theme for the meeting was;

Streamlining SME to sustain gain and fully respond to emerging priorities in malaria control and elimination. What do we need to continue doing? What do we need to do differently?     

The subthemes were as follows:
Subtheme 1: All-inclusive malaria SME approach  (see presentations)
Subtheme 2: Malaria SME in the context of specific intervention—protocol, tools, process, and indicators (see presentations)
Subtheme 3: Accurately measuring malaria service/intervention coverage and impact (see presentations)
Subtheme 4: Setting up a resilient SME system for all transmission settings (see presentations)
Subtheme 5: Updates on RBM and SMERG business (see presentations)
