Thirty Second SME WG Annual Meeting

The RBM Partnership Surveillance, Monitoring, and Evaluation Group (SME WG) organized its 32nd SME WG meeting virtually from 18 to 20 May 2021. Unlike the usual traditional presentations during SME WG Conferences, the meeting had the uniqueness of opening the event with a panel discussion.

The main theme for the meeting was;

Streamlining SMERG to fully play its role of coordinating and acting as an advisory body to guide actions aimed at improving the malaria surveillance, monitoring, and evaluation system in endemic countries        

Meeting Objectives:

• Discuss and define SMERG technical role in coordinating and harmonizing partners’ efforts and supporting countries in the context of public health emergency. 
• Define actions to streamline and better coordinate monitoring and evaluation efforts for malaria control and elimination 
• Discuss and agree on the best strategy to better coordinate and document efforts aimed at improving malaria surveillance and use of the information 
• Provide updates on SMERG affairs and that of the other RBM working groups.
