The recent episode of the Malaria Routine Data in Action webinar series held on the 20th November, was dedicated to the topic of

“Private Sector Surveillance Integration”

In many malaria endemic countries, use of the private healthcare sector for diagnosis and treatment is high, yet data on malaria cases are not frequently included in malaria information systems from these providers and thus our understanding of the true malaria burden may be affected.

Three esteemed speakers shared their experiences in integrating private sector reporting and thoughts on associated challenges and facilitators

We welcomed a great panel of speakers  to share their experiences in integrating private sector reporting and thoughts on associated challenges and facilitators . We discussed best practices and lessons learned, as well as ideas for private sector surveillance integration activities.

The webinar was moderated by Hannah Edwards (Senior Technical Advisor - Surveillance and Data-informed Response - Malaria Consortium)

Presenters included :

  • Dr Assane Ouangare, MD, MPH  (Directeur des statistiques sectorielles Ministère de la santé/ Burkina Faso),
  • Bram Piot (Project Director, Health Security, PSI / Asia)
  • Abiola Idowu ( Chief Executive Officer at Lagos State Government)
