RBM Partnership to End Malaria Enters New Leadership Phase with Appointment of Dr. Michael Adekunle Charles as CEO, New Board Chaired by Joy Phumaphi
Geneva, 17 May 2023 – Today, the RBM Partnership celebrates a new phase of leadership, welcoming Dr. Michael Adekunle Charles as permanent CEO and 22 members to the Partnership’s largely representative new Board, led by incoming Chair Joy Phumaphi. This revitalised leadership structure will enhance the Partnership’s ability to effectively deliver on its Strategic Plan and facilitate the delivery and achievement of our collective goal of ending malaria.
Football Fights Back: new F.C. launched to tackle deadly disease
25 April 2023: On World Malaria Day, football legends Luís Figo and Khalilou Fadiga have teamed up with the RBM Partnership to End Malaria to announce an exciting new initiative: the Zero Malaria F.C..
The new initiative will bring together a team of globally renowned footballers to increase malaria awareness, urge greater action against this deadly disease, and work with the RBM Partnership to advocate for the malaria response.

The RBM Partnership to End Malaria is coming together this World Malaria Day to highlight the need for urgent action and further investment to end malaria.
Since the turn of the millennium, global partnership and sustained investment have made a significant impact to the fight against malaria, preventing two billion malaria cases and saving 11.7 billion lives. Today, however, low coverage of existing tools, emerging biological threats and funding shortfalls are brewing a perfect storm for malaria, putting progress at risk.
RBM Partnership to End Malaria Board calls for nominations: Board Chair and unaffiliated members
Geneva, 3 March 2023 - At its 25th meeting on 25 October 2022, the Board of the RBM Partnership to End Malaria adopted a new hybrid Board structure to better capture the perspectives of malaria-affected countries and other constituencies into the Partnership’s governance.

Taking place alongside the 26th Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) and hosted by the Government of Rwanda on 23 June 2022, the Summit came at a pivotal time for world leaders to reaffirm commitments to end malaria and NTDs – diseases that cause untold suffering and misery to billions of people. .
