Sara currently leads the Data Initiative and Global Malaria Dashboards within the partnership. She is a data scientist with over 30 years of  wide-ranging experience in science (physicist and neuroscientist), and innovation, higher education, as well as project cycle management. Sara has a long track record of successful fund raising within the Future and Emerging Technologies (FET) European Framework and the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF), has published over 60 published research papers and book chapters and received the Innovation Prize from the Geneva University Hospital in 2012 for the development of an efficient Brain Computer Interface. Moving constantly between analytical work and team or project management, she is passionate about making a direct impact in Health through the use of novel technologies and trends in data science. Sara holds a Masters in Physics from the Faculty of Physics of the University of Havana, A PhD in Physics and Neuroscience granted by both faculties at the University of Geneva and a Privat Dozent in Data Science granted by the University of Geneva. Outside of the office Sara enjoys reading, teaching, and swimming.
