SBC WG Meetings
The RBM SBC Working Group holds an annual meeting to grow and strengthen a network of malaria practitioners who work to implement evidence-based SBCC at the country level. This face-to-face forum is an opportunity for SBCC professionals to speak about emerging issues, share common challenges and highlight their successes among their peers.
The SBC WG hosted a second annual two-day virtual forum on September 1-2, 2021. to:
- Explore cutting-edge malaria prevention, control, and elimination issues
- Share updates on progress made on workstream deliverables: Community Health Worker Package, Malaria SBC during COVID-19 Best Practices, Zero Malaria Starts with Me Guidance, SBC Strategies Across Transmission Settings, and MIS Module.
- Identify future objectives and priorities for the SBC WG (new workstreams, etc.).
- Foster connection, collaboration, and momentum between members of the SBC WG.
This virtual meeting convened more than 350 participants representing over 50 countries.
In lieu of our annual meeting, the SBC WG hosted a two-day virtual forum on October 21-22, 2020 to maintain the momentum gained as a global malaria SBC community during and beyond the COVID-19 circumstances of social distancing. This virtual meeting convened more than 160 participants from 33 countries.
More than 120 participants from 22 countries convened in Maputo for the 6th annual meeting of the RBM SBCC WG on September 10-12, 2019. The meeting was opened by guests of honor, Jennifer Adams, Mission Director for USAID Mozambique, and Baltazar Candrinho, Director of the Mozambique NMCP.
Over 120 participants from 22 countries convened in Lusaka for the 5th annual meeting of the RBM SBCC WG on September 25-27, 2018. The meeting was opened by the Permanent Secretary of Health Services from the Zambia Ministry of Public Health, Dr. Jabin Mulwanda, the President's Malaria Initiative (PMI) Resident Advisor, Paul Psychas, and the RBM Partnership to End Malaria representative Daniso Mbewe.
83 paricipants from 21 countries and more than 33 different organizations convened in Dar es Salaam for the 4th annual meeting of the RBM SBCC WG on July 11-13, 2017. The meeting was opened by the Acting Director of Preventive Services from the Tanzania Ministry of Health, Dr. Vida Mmbaga, the Director of the Zanzibar Elimination Program, Dr. Abdullah Ali and the President’s Malaria Initiative (PMI) Resident Advisor, George Greer.
95 paricipants from 25 countries and 30 different organizations convened in Dakar for the 3rd annual meeting of the RBM SBCC WG on September 27-29, 2016. Participants included international and Senegalese malaria organizations, implementing partners, private sector organizations and 17 national malaria control program representatives. The meeting was opened by the Senegal National Control Program coordinator, Omar Sarr, after introductions from the United States President’s Malaria Initiative (PMI) resident advisor, Pascal Zinzindohoue, and World Health Organization (WHO) Global Malaria Program representative Claude Rwagocondo.
50 paricipants from 19 countries convened in Kampala for the 2nd annual meeting of the RBM SBCC WG on September 29-30, 2015. Participants included international and Ugandan malaria organizations, implementing partners, private sector organizations, and 11 national malaria control program representatives. The meeting was opened by the Uganda National Malaria Control Program SBCC lead, Mr. Richard Okwii.
