Launched in March 2010 as a strategic effort, the RBM Progress & Impact Series aggregates, analyzes and shares data from a variety of sources with a two-fold objective:

  • Benchmarking progress against GMAP targets and documenting impact in order to drive future investment and action, and secure high levels of commitment to malaria control among donor countries, international health organizations and governments of endemic and epidemic countries.
  • Informing vigorous advocacy for sustained and increased malaria control resources, and prioritization at the national and global levels.

Today's environment of increased accountability and accelerated national action indeed requires credible evidence of progress toward mitigating the disease, along with efforts to make findings available widely. Ensuring transparency of performance against the targets also highlights barriers to implementation and informs advocacy required to eliminate the barriers, and achieving this has been the aim of the Series.
