The purpose of the event is to highlight the progress towards malaria elimination in Asia-Pacific countries, members of the Francophonie (Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam and Vanuatu) and to raise awareness of remaining risks, including substandard and falsified medicines.
This event is part of the engagement with the Francophonie to eliminate malaria, led by RBM and a wide range of partners including APLMA, the World Health Organization, Unitaid. It seeks to solicit commitment from the leaders of malaria-endemic countries to reduce the malaria burden.
On this occasion, representatives from Asia-Pacific francophone countries, along with global health actors, will reiterate their commitment to the 2030 malaria elimination goal, notably through increased efforts against substandard and falsified medicines and better access to high-quality medicines in the region.
