The Ministers of Health of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) have approved the roll out of a cross-border malaria control initiative between Angola, Botswana, Namibia, Zambia and Zimbabwe. This effort could free millions of people from the threat of malaria, stimulate economic growth, and set the stage for the rolling back of the disease on the African continent. TZMI will apply for funding from the Global Fund in July 2008, and in line with Global Fund requirements and recommendations will pursue a dual recipient structure for its Global Fund proposal.
