Recognizing the challenge of re-treating conventional ITNs to maintain effectiveness, a satellite group of the RBM Working Group on Insecticide-Treated Nets (WIN) formed in 2003 to develop a framework for producing and distributing long-lasting insecticidal nets (LLINs). Management Sciences for Health, in collaboration with UNICEF, WHO, RBM, and the Rockefeller Foundation, drafted an LLIN business plan. A meeting in Johannesburg brought stakeholders together to discuss the plan, identify key issues, and agree on specific action points.
